About the Author
Margeaux [m ah r g oh] Hext has been the worst-kept secret of Vermont, New Orleans, &, most recently, Philadelphia. A Libra who sneezes under bright lights, she has always maintained that her love of literature led her astray, away from the monastic life of a scholar & towards her destiny of une bonne vivante.
The artist with whom she identifies most strongly is Francis Bacon (not the former Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, but the Irish-British painter), with Jasper Johns as a close second. While she does have a flimsy command of the French language, she tries her best. When prompted, she would say her favourite thing about herself is her comedic timing, although she concedes she’s working at not laughing so hard at her own jokes.
Genial in temperament & contradictory in taste, she has been described as “a pleasure to have in class”. She is the proud owner of a useless degree in English & many fun stories that she employs at dinner parties & family barbecues. Margeaux has not been proudly published in the New York Times & Vice, & her infamous Squirt Manifesto has not been adapted for the stage nor screen.
Some may say writing an autobiographical missive in the third person would indicate a snob at best & an egomaniac at worst. To which Margeaux would reply thoughtfully, “hmm, that doesn’t sound great for my image…”
